Get G.U.T.T.A. (Get Greater Understanding Through The Almighty) was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina where he spent much of his life in a low-income housing development. Performing on stage and writing poetry since the age of 10, he was influenced by some of Hip Hop’s pioneers like KRS-One, Run DMC, LL Cool J, 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. He recorded his first solo album entitled “A Poor Man’s Diary” at age 16. In 2000, he and a friend of the family created an independent record label called Powermove Recordings in Greenville, South Carolina. He led the featured group under the Powermove label called ATG (Against The Grain) who was featured in the Southern Slang Tour along side Bubba Sparxx, Three 6 Mafia, Pastor Troy and more. He is the co-founder of WNL (Wednesday Nite Live), a Hip Hop showcase held each month, that featured artists from the Upstate of South Carolina and surrounding states in 2005.

Gutta uses his passion for music by giving back to the community. Among his community service attributes, he started the “Toy Soldiers” toy drive in 2005, where toys were purchased and donated to give to under privileged kids in low-income communities. He helped to build a low-watt, community radio station in Greenville, South Carolina and participated in the Hip Hop Academy to help educate youth about Hip Hop.

Gutta released his latest LP “Heart on My Sleeve” in 2018 dedicated to his wife after her unexpected death.  He puts his heart into his songwriting and strives to encourage the youth to find constructive ways and real solutions to become successful, rather than engaging in a life of crime, drugs and violence. His music talks about real problems that we all face in this world today. He intimately invites his audience to know that he has been where some of them are, and has seen and done some things that did not get him anywhere. He managed to take the negative aspects of his experiences and turn them into positive outcomes. Get Gutta says "God lies within. Look deep inside yourself to find the motivation, creativity, and strength that needed to be great."

“We were designed to be great. Don't ever let anyone try to change your design”  -  Get Gutta
